Benefit for Gail Allen’s Cancer TreatmentHi, my name is Gail Allen. I started the Cat’s Cradle in 1998 to rescue and adopt cats and kittens that were homeless and abandoned. In 2008, I was diagnosed with lung cancer, falling into the 13% of never-smokers who get it. I had individual health insurance until 2006, when the cost of that policy prevented me from continuing coverage. Now, my niece, Ady, and my sister, Suzette, who belong to a trail riders group, are organizing a benefit trail ride, auction and dinner to help me with my doctor and treatment bills. If you would like to help me, here’s some ways you can:
I’d like to thank each of you who are willing to help in this project, and also for all the support, prayers, and adoptions that have been sent my way this past year. The CT scan I had in September shows a decrease in the tumor in my right lung, so my treatments are working! (The chemo and radiation I had last fall got rid of the metastasis in my vertebrae, and decreased the original lung tumor by 1/2.) I am now on a drug called Tarceva, and can be on this for a long time, as long as it is working. The drug company who makes this drug has a wonderful program that I qualified for, so I receive this drug at no charge. Otherwise it would cost $3,300 per month! I still pay all the doctor bills, bloodwork, CT scans, and radiologist/pathology fees. Again, thank everyone from the bottom of my heart! With so many wonderful people pulling for me, I’m sure I can I can beat this! —Gail >> View Flyer for Fundraising Benefit |
